HomeNewsUSASouthwestArizonaArizona – over a ton of rainbows stocks.

On Wednesday, 3,175 pounds of rainbow trout were stocked in the Colorado River below Davis Dam. The fish were divided between three stocking locations: Davis Camp, Community Park, and Rotary Park and averaged more than 1/2-pound each..
This is the second consecutive week that the Colorado River was stocked with more than 3,000 fish.  Fishing should be excellent.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will begin stocking the Colorado River every week from October through March.
THE REEL DEAL
Lots of highlights for this week, starting with catfish coming back to Community Fishing Program waters next week. See the stocking schedule.
Some others “Fish AZ” happenings:
  • We stocked about 4,600 brown trout (pictured above) into Kinnikinick Lake southeast of Flagstaff on Wednesday. See a video.A few thousand more are coming next week. Fishing should be good for browns from the shore during the next couple weeks until they scatter. Try lures such as Panther Martins or roostertails. This is also the time of year when catfishing can be good on Kinnikinick. This will be an excellent place to fish for browns during October and November.
  • Striper boils are going crazy! Try  Lake Powell (in the northern area from Good Hope Bay to White Canyon), Lake Pleasant (northern coves),  Lake Havasu, Mohave Lake and Lake Mead.
