Dan Casey is one of a select few elite anglers who have caught three different Grand Slams and reached Tier 1 Recognition status. So far, he has caught a Bay and Estuary Grand Slam (snook, gray/mangrove snapper and Spanish mackerel), Inshore Grand Slam (red drum, spotted seatrout and flounder) and Family Grand Slam (any three fish in the same scientific family).
Saltwater Grand Slams challenge anglers to catch three specified fish in 24-hours. There are nine categories, including a Small Fry Grand Slam for youth age 15 and under, that encourage anglers to target a variety of species and help take pressure off the most sought-after catches. The Reefs & Rubble Grand Slam (black sea bass, gag and triggerfish) is the only category left that has not received a submission. Will you be the first angler to conquer it?
