Lisa Spencer at Lisa’s Bait Shop in Benton knows how to tell where the hot spots are: Anglers typically are loading up with a specific bait and will kindly offer where they are going. Lisa’s easy to talk to. And it’s pretty tell-tale. This week, Lisa’s sure that anglers have found some spots in Lake Hamiltonin Hot Springs where there are BIG bream worth traveling there to catch. Meanwhile, some of her customers believe Lake Ouachita is the hot spot for slab crappie; that’s been going on now for a few weeks.
Roger Nesuda at Jolly Roger’s Marina on Lake Maumelle says largemouth bass are excellent. Fish at dawn or at dusk. Tuesday night’s tournament competitors had a big time on the lake, with 13 boats pulling in 6 pounds or more. All species seem to be biting well there, he said.
Note the photo above and on the website Fishing Report of the noodling success going on at Cane Creek Lakenear Star City. State park interpreter Austin Davidson says bream and bass are very active now, and you can catch catfish conventionally if noodling isn’t your thing.
At Lake Nimrod, crappie are literally jumping in the boat with anglers, Andrews Bait Shop tells us.
Tony Zimmerman says that bream are excellent on the backwaters of the Little Rock Pool of the Arkansas River. Bream were spawning with last week’s full moon.
The trout bite is excellent now on the White River. Sportsman’s White River Resort says anglers are pulling in big browns, and the rainbows are hungry too.
In northwest Arkansas, pull yourself away from those hot baseball Razorbacks for a moment this weekend and fishLake Fayetteville, as the bream are excellent, and bass are good.
A newcomer to the Fishing Report, Webb’s Sporting Goods in DeWitt, is keeping everyone up to date about southeast Arkansas fishing. Largemouth bass are biting very well in Pool 2 of the Arkansas River, and the area reservoirs are turning out excellent hauls of all species, we’re told.
